Overview

We make no compromises on quality. We use trusted RS Diagnostika tuning software and solutions — only licensed, top-tier equipment. All tuning software is written by RS Diagnostika themselves and set up for your specific car; we never use off-the-shelf files bought online. We raise output while fully preserving the engine's reliability and lifespan.

Chip tuning in brief

Chip tuning means professionally optimising the software in the engine control unit (ECU). We adjust the parameters that govern how the engine runs so that the capability already built into it is put to better use — the result is more power and more torque.

The largest and most noticeable gains come on forced-induction cars: turbocharged or supercharged engines. Depending on the engine and its output version, Stage 1 software can deliver a marked increase in performance with no mechanical rebuild.

Voltimoto focuses on solutions that keep a healthy balance between performance, drivability and long-term reliability. If a vehicle is not suitable, or the risk is too high, we say so plainly.

Particulate filter, EGR and AdBlue faults are a separate service from chip tuning — read more about DPF, EGR and AdBlue removal.

On diesel engines, chip tuning often goes hand in hand with emissions-system problems. If the particulate filter keeps clogging, see our separate DPF removal and delete service.

If the car has active fault codes or is in limp mode, we run car diagnostics before tuning — we only write software for an engine that is in good health.

How much does chip tuning cost in Estonia?

At Voltimoto, Stage 1 chip tuning starts from €200: from €200 for cars up to 2012, from €280 for 2013–2018 cars, and from €350 for 2019 and newer vehicles. The price always includes a pre-check, individually written software, and testing of the result — we never use off-the-shelf files.

The final price is driven mostly by the ECU type: newer cars use encrypted control units that take more work, so the price is higher. Stage 2 solutions and automatic gearbox (TCU) software are quoted individually, since the workload depends on the model and the target result.

Frequently asked questions

What is chip tuning in practice?

Chip tuning, or ECU remap, is adapting the engine control unit software. We read the factory map directly from the ECU, adjust injection, boost pressure, and throttle parameters, then load the optimised map back. The result is more power and often lower fuel consumption.

Is chip tuning safe?

Yes, when done by an experienced specialist. Voltimoto keeps factory safety margins on all calibrations so the engine and drivetrain operate safely. We guarantee the quality of our software and workmanship.

How much does chip tuning cost in Tallinn?

Prices start from 200 euros for older cars (up to 2012) and from 280 euros for newer ones (2013–2018). From 2019 onwards, starting at 350 euros. The exact price depends on the make and engine.

How much extra power does chip tuning give?

For diesel engines a typical Stage 1 result is up to +30% power and up to +25% torque. Petrol engine gains are usually more moderate. We provide specific numbers after inspecting the vehicle.

How long does chip tuning take?

A typical Stage 1 chip tuning takes 2–4 hours depending on the car and ECU type. More complex solutions may take longer.

How accurate are these numbers?

They are database estimates from our software partner, not Voltimoto dyno sheets. Actual results depend on engine health, software version, and hardware — differences of roughly ±10% are common in practice.

Why is my car not listed?

The database does not cover every market variant. Send us your vehicle details and we will check manually whether we can help and with which approach.

Does the Stage 2 figure apply without hardware changes?

No. Stage 2 usually requires supporting hardware (for example downpipe, intercooler) depending on the model. The configurator shows potential after the right preparation.
